With gas prices at record highs across Texas - electric, hybrid and smart cars are generating more interest than ever before. While we’ve written hybrids for as long as they've been on the road, we now offer coverage for additional models of electric, hybrid, and smart cars.
Travelers personal lines, a member of St. Paul Travelers (NYSE:STA), announced plans to implement a 10 percent discount* on auto insurance to hybrid Texas vehicle owners in 2006. Travelers is the first auto insurance company to begin implementing a discount for hybrid owners nationwide.
Progressive has worked with the Arbor Day Foundation to establish a program in which Progressive plants one sapling tree in a U.S. forest for every online customer who chooses to use less paper by paying their bills electronically. Since the program began rolling out earlier this year, 10,000 trees have been planted.
Travelers (NYSE: TRV), a leading provider of boat and other personal insurance products, is launching a first in the industry insurance premium discount* of up to 10 percent for those owning electrically powered boats. Whether boaters are interested in a quieter boating experience, or if they are seeking environmentally friendly boating solutions that help save money on annual fuel costs, electric boats can provide the right alternative for this segment of boaters.
This is just several in a series of changes made in an effort to support our environment. Other initiatives include discounts for some customers who use sustainable materials in building, a paper-reduction campaign in our office, lowering our own vehicle emissions, shopping at local businesses and supporting community farmers.
